Last week’s and YTD results at the bottom of the page. The following picks are real, names have been changed to protect the innocent.
Split Decisions
Games with no clear consensus among the group. Here is where the breaks are made. [Number of pickers beside each team]
Memphis +5.5 [2] at Florida State [1]: Frosty Yonkers has the Seminoles because “I hate Tiger High,” which is valid.
Boston College +16.5 [3] at Missouri [2]: B. Vern Ghiz has the Eagles, because this “feels like a trap game for Mizzou, especially with BC’s offensive talent.” Meanwhile Lucky Day is taking the Tigers because “there was an overreaction to BC’s win over FSU. It’s Mizzou’s biggest game yet and they’ll come out and beat BC’s ass.”
Pitt +2.5 [2] vs. West Virginia [1]: Cox Bigly, who sits atop the leaderboard after two weeks, is alone in taking the Mountaineers here based on “Garrett Greene’s explosiveness as both a runner and passer, and especially as a passer against Pitt’s secondary.”
Texas A&M -3.5 [2] at Florida [1]: Rod Johnson is circling the wagons for Sunbelt Billy: “I think Napier is coaching for his job, and that means he’ll play DJ Lagway. I do not trust A&M’s QB play at all. Plus, it’s at Florida.” However, Lockpick Jr. has his unit on the Aggies: “I think Notre Dame is a good team that got punched in the mouth last week. A&M played a good half against the Irish. Elko can coach a half of football, and that’s all it will take because Florida is a pile of shit. The pile has a little shine with the hope of a new QB, but the shine will be gone by the 3rd quarter, leaving Gator fans to check their shoes. Elko and his gunny sack cheermen will cover with ease.”
Other disputed picks:
Kansas -6.5 [2] vs. UNLV [1]
Oregon -14.5 [1] at Oregon St. [1]
Washington -3.5 [2] vs. Washington St. [1]
Utah -21.5 [1] at Utah St. [1]
80% Club
One game has a multiple-pick confidence level with one picker going against the group:
Arkansas St +23.5 [1] at Michigan [4]: C. Lanatus says “They’re building a foundation brick by brick at Arkansas State, and covering the spread will be a cornerstone win. Michigan might have been the national champion but Ark St. are clearly champions of life.” Butch, please!
Consensus Picks
A handful of games picked unanimously by 3 or more of the crew. Proceed with caution, the hivemind is just 7-8 in these games so far this season.
Tennessee -47.5 [8] vs. Kent State: A hefty line for the Vols to cover. Are all 8 pickers really that confident in Tennessee, or are they afraid of being ridiculed in the group chat if they don’t pick UT? (it’s both)
Ole Miss -23.5 [8] at Wake Forest: Harold Richard says “the Demon Deacons defense is allowing almost 400 yards a game. Ole Miss is going to score against almost anyone. Kiffin might have 400 yards by halftime.” I tend to agree, Kiffin knows he’s going to need those style points when it comes playoff selection time.
Vanderbilt -10.5 [5] at Georgia St.: A surprisingly popular pick, half the CFAJ Crew are anchoring down this weekend. JML Esquire explains his thinking: “Vandy had an impressive first win (for them) against Virginia Tech and they showed thier ability to score points in a 55-0 shutout of Alcorn St. in week 2. Meanwhile Geaorgia St. barely beat a Chattanooga that got their ass destroyed by the Vols in week 1 (UT could’ve scored 100), so I don’t think this game will be close. Also, #&%$ Georgia State, I’m still pissed about 2019.
